AS A guest-house owner, I know it's wrong to think a B&B in Britain costs typically [pounds sterling]50 a night per person (Letters). We charge [pounds sterling]30 a night and I know of no other guest house locally charging anywhere near [pounds sterling]50. A quick search on the internet will confirm this.

There are some beautiful places to visit in Britain, and for couples and families, a B&B can often be the best option.

Certainly within Europe, the euro exchange rate has made the hidden day-to-day costs of foreign holidays prohibitive. So before you rush off to foreign climes, do some research and you'll be pleasantly surprised.
