Energy news alerts

If one watched the presidential debates for the candidates'positions on energy policy or the environment (such as greenhousegases and global warming) they got nothing. Some of the energypundits have been saying a president can't do much about controllingthe price of gasoline or heating oil, that both will depend onforeign oil.

Both candidates embrace as yet undeveloped technology as hopefullya partial answer before peak oil production day is reached andreserves begin to decline. Environmentalists assail, with facts,President Bush's aim to open the wilderness to drilling as definitelynot the answer.

The Coalition for Sensible Energy's Web site, www.csemaine.org,has been following and blogging all such energy news alerts as foundon the Internet. On Oct. 13, the day of the last debate that ignoredthe subject, Redefining Progress released a special report: "Smarter,Cleaner, Stronger [America], Secure Jobs. A Clean Environment, andLess Foreign Oil."

I urge you and your readers to study it via the above Web site orwrite for a copy.
