WA:Concerns over rooftop solar panels in WA

A survey of rooftop solar panels on West Australian homes has found a high number have
installation defects and could pose a fire risk.

In an inspection of 260 solar systems ordered by EnergySafety, half were found to be
installed incorrectly and had at least one defect.

Western Power and Horizon Power inspectors found 12 per cent had incorrect wiring which
could pose a fire hazard.

They found that another 11 per cent of installations had defects that could pose a
future safety risk if not rectified, while 27 per cent did not comply with requirements
to safely label devices.
